“Kasey was absolutely an amazing photographer. I got my photos back within two weeks of the wedding and I literally didn’t hate one photo. I can’t stop staring at them and they are beautiful. If you are needing a photographer that takes amazing pictures, listens to you and likes adventure, then Kasey is the perfect photographer. Thank you again dear, you’re amazing!”

Christina and Matt got married on a snowy, February day in Helena, Montana. All winter we had been hoping that the weather would cooperate with us. After the way that everything just fell into place for their engagement photos we had faith that it would happen again. Christina and I joked a few times about our very specific wishes. While we didn’t want there to be no snow, we didn’t want too much either. We had our fingers crossed and were praying for the kind of day where there would be just enough snow to go on a little adventure for gorgeous images.

Wedding Weekend + Winter Storm

As the weekend of the wedding approached the weather advisories kept getting worse. The weather reports warned that over a foot of snow would fall and with winds it would be blizzard conditions. Montana highway reports weren’t looking so kind either as they said the roads to Helena, Montana would be a solid sheet of ice. Fearing that the roads would be impassible if we waited, my mom and I went to Helena the day before the wedding.

After arriving we decided to spend the rest of the evening just hanging out. We went to Melaque  Mexican Restaurant (which is super tasty fyi for all of you in Montana) and then we spent the rest of the evening watching the Olympics.

Location Scouting

When we woke up the following morning the weather was not as bad as they had foretold. Having a little bit of time before the wedding, we decided to do some location scouting. Which as you all know, I love to do! We drove all around the historic district of town and through the foothills nearby.  After finding a place that we thought was perfect for bride and groom adventure portraits we headed over to the wedding venue.

Arriving at the Radisson Colonial Hotel we were greeted by the view of their grand staircase. Immediately we knew that this hotel would boast some great settings for pictures!

Christina & Matt…Married

Christina and Matt’s day was so perfect. From Omaha, Nebraska to Nashville, Tennessee, family and friends came from all over to celebrate their love. Surrounded by loved ones, they said their vows and tied the knot in the foothills of Helena, Montana. The day was filled with happy tears and laughter and there is no denying that everyone in attendance had a great time!

After the ceremony Christina and Matt snuck out for bride and groom portraits. Just as we got the location the snow began to fall. Braving the cold and borrowing my snow boots, Christina hiked alongside of her husband to get some wintery images….You guys. They turned out magical! I was seriously doing a little happy dance as we did their pictures. I honestly love that they were willing to go on an adventure on their wedding day!

Time To Party

Once we got back Matt and Christina made their grand entrance. They then stole everyone’s attention as they danced their first dance to Thomas Rhett’s “Die A Happy Man.” Following their dance Christina took the floor with her dad. Let me tell you, it was a memorable moment. They started out swaying to Tim McGraw’s “My Little Girl” and then they completely broke it down to a mix of pop songs. There was everything from sunglasses to NSYNC and everyone loved it. It was hands down the best father-daughter dance that I have seen.

After an epic father-daughter dance and a beautiful mother-son dance the party continued on. Followed by dinner and emotional speeches from their siblings everyone got out on the floor and had a blast celebrating with the couple. Just when I thought that it couldn’t get any better, the groom and all of the groomsmen broke out into “My Girl” and they sung and danced for Christina.

Their wedding was just so fun and so beautiful. I couldn’t be any more honored that they chose me to photograph their day.
