A Collaborative Event
After working with agencies in New York and Los Angeles I wanted to bring part of the experience home to Montana. Reaching out to local boutiques and salons I started putting together, a collaborative event, the Great Falls Modeling Collective.
For the event wardrobe I teamed up with Belles and Lace Bridal, The Boutique Co, and B.R. Boutique. Makeup was provided by my mom, Kim Kreit, and hair was by Shelby with Capital Hill Beauty and Bridal. It was a lot of fun teaming up with the different businesses because each girl got to do multiple looks during the event.
Modeling In Montana
We started off the day with hair and makeup. Once the first look was done we did studio portraits. From there we went on to do outdoor pictures. It was 52 degrees outside and windy, overall not too bad, because we were able to shelter ourselves from the wind by shooting in alleyways. By 4:00 the weather had taken a drastic turn as an arctic front began to move in. Within one hour the temperature dropped 32 degrees and it was 20 degrees and windy. It made for an interesting ending to the day because the girls’ final look was a formal gown and we were to shoot on the rooftop.
So there we were, on the rooftop, in below freezing temperatures and high winds. I was lucky in getting to wear my North Face gloves and coat. The girls, as I mentioned earlier, were not so fortunate. They were in formal gowns! I was so impressed by all of them in how they maintained their composure. You would never tell the conditions which they were facing in the photographs. They were total troopers, smiling, twirling, and acting like the rooftop was their runway. It makes pose the question, have you truly tested your endurance as a model if you have never shot in Montana?
